An offbeat, laugh track-lacking sitcom revolves around a bizarrely dysfunctional family called the Wilkirson's and at the center of it is Malcolm (Frankie Muniz).
The middle of two brothers who still live at home is Malcolm. His eldest (and favorite) brother, Francis (Christopher Masterson), attends a military boarding school because his parents; Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) and Hal (Bryan Cranston), believe it will reform him and keep him out of trouble. His other brother is Reese (Justin Berfield)
Malcolm often has a hard time coping with his family life, but he has more troubles to contend with when he starts receiving special treatment at school after being diagnosed as an intellectually advanced genius.
