Before the eyes of the world, 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics are kidnapped and killed. "Forget peace for now," says Prime Minister Golda Meir. The Israelis send Mossad agents, led by Avner (Eric Bana), to track down and assassinate everyone linked to the attack by Palestinian terrorist organisation Black September. It is retribution on a grand scale.

Director Steven Spielberg was criticised by both sides of the Gaza Strip for this heavyweight film. Munich has been called an attack on Palestinians and, conversely, Spielberg has been rebuked as "no friend of Israel". Whatever the verdict, it's clear that this examination of acts of terrorism, reprisal and revenge was never going to be the final word. As one of the characters says: "There is no peace at the end of this."
