The slightly kooky forensic crime drama - starring David Boreanaz as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth and Emily Deschanel as Dr Temperance "Bones" Brennan (pictured) - continues.

Tonight, Zack Addy (Eric Millegan) makes an unexpected return. The last time he appeared was at the end of the last season, when the team discovered that their friend and colleague was working with the Gormogon, a twisted serial killer with a taste for human flesh.

The show kicks off with a grisly discovery that requires a strong stomach: a dismembered body submerged in a pool of purple water. Sweet's psychological insight into Jared's perfectly regimented world widens the scope for viable suspects, including the victim's psychologist, his mature girlfriend and his publisher. But a slight obstacle stands in the way. Without the head, Brennan and Booth won't have enough evidence to catch the killer.

Clutching at straws, they pay Zack a visit at the psychiatric ward. Meanwhile, stepping away from the guts and gore, the odd couple find time for a bit of bickering...
