Previously shown on BBC Three, geeky northern anarchist Alex Riley (pictured) takes a tasteless romp through the dark side of the food industry. Here the man - who has been described as "from the Louis Theroux school of presenting" - goes in search of the most disgusting thing he's ever eaten, and finds it's not as straightforward as it seems.

He discovers that food manufacturers have ingenious ways of transforming horrible ingredients into something that looks and even tastes just like food. Riley unearths hidden gems he had no idea that he'd eaten, from substitute cheese to beef connective tissue. To find out how much the food manufacturers can get away with, Riley finds creates and markets his own monster food.
