Perhaps the finest Sean Connery-era James Bond adventure, this 1964 outing is a rip-roaring, unstoppable, must-see classic. Featuring a cracking fast-paced plot, plenty of gadgets, gizmos and girls, dastardly thugs, neat script touches and some tremendous set pieces, it also brought us Bond's legendary Aston Martin DB5, complete with machine guns, rockets, bullet-proof screen, tyre shredders and an ejector seat!

Connery is on top form as the debonair and licenced to kill 007, sent to investigate the nefarious activities of Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), a ruthless and dangerous man with a penchant for gold bullion. In the process he dallies with one of Goldfinger's female assistants (Shirley Eaton, who's bumped off in an unforgettable manner - see picture), meets bowler-hat throwing Oddjob - one of the all-time classic Bond foes, played by Harold Sakata - and uncovers an extraordinarily audacious plot to rob Fort Knox. Oh, and there's Honor Blackman who plays Goldfinger's right-hand woman and has the best name of any Bond girl - Pussy Galore.

Highly recommended.

Did you know? Honor Blackman quit her role as Cathy Gale in The Avengers to appear in this movie. Too Many Christmas Trees, a 1965 episode of The Avengers, cleverly refers to this when John Steed receives a postcard from Cathy Gale - sent from Fort Knox.
