After last week's slightly plodding episode, things get tougher and darker tonight. As ever, there's a plethora of storylines to follow, and it's hard to determine which tale to focus on.

There's Matt Parker and Nathan Petrelli, who team up to look for Matt's father, Maury, who may be a link to solving why the Heroes have superpowers. He's a very slippery customer, though. Once they've tracked him down, Matt tries to read his father's mind and both he and Nathan end up with some exceedingly disturbing out-of-body experiences. Nasty.

Over the ocean in Ireland, Peter Petrelli is becoming rather better acquainted with Caitlin. Steady on now girl; Peter's liable to explode at any moment, in more ways than one. More worryingly there's an attractive woman called Elle who is looking for Peter as well. Things don't bode well, especially when electricity starts shooting out of her fingers. Shocking stuff.

Meanwhile Monica (pictured) begins to realise that she can do more than fancy things with tomatoes while flipping her burgers. Suddenly she becomes a concert pianist, although she's never played the piano before in her life. She and her cousin Micah (pictured) agree to keep their powers secret.

Niki - or is it Jessica? - is back in the thick of things, too. Now restrained within a room at The Company's HQ, things still get out of hand with plenty of broken glass to clear up, and the odd attempted strangulation. On a brighter note, there's also the return of Hiro. Having decided to stay in the 17th century, he, Kensei, and Yaeko set out to find White Beard.

All in all it's a slightly unfocused episode, but there's still enough to keep you hooked.

Did you know? A third series of Heroes is to be shown in the US in the autumn. It will kick off on 15 September, with Villains, which was originally intended to be included in the second series, but was held up by the US writers' strike.
