The new four-part drama series, offering a modern twist on period drama, continues. In the second part, Amanda (Jemima Rooper, pictured) arrives at Netherfield to discover that Jane (Morven Christie) has caught a serious fever and is taken to bed. By Jane's bedside, Bingley (Tom Mison) tells Amanda that he is infatuated with her. At her wits' end, Amanda tells Bingley that she is a lesbian and that nothing can ever happen between them - hopefully this will put an end to it.
Amanda stays on at Netherfield to look after Jane. After an awkward dinner with Mr Darcy (Elliot Cowan), Bingley and Caroline (Christina Cole), Amanda is invited to sing for them all. Having admitted she can't play the piano, to their bemusement, Amanda sings an accapella version of Downtown. There's a hint that Mr Darcy's attitude towards Amanda is softening.
Jane quickly recovers, but Amanda's plan seems to have worked - Bingley is falling for Jane. However, just as the story seems to be getting back on track, Mr Bennet's (Hugh Bonneville) grisly cousin, Mr Collins (Guy Henry), comes to stay at Longbourn and Wickham (Tom Riley) arrives on the scene to cause further mischief...
