It is election night and election fever has gripped the Sterling Cooper agency, as Matt Weiner's hit US drama continues to take an unflinching look at the world of Sixties advertising in New York. However, behind the frivolity, the internal politics are gearing up to be as exciting as the Presidential elections.
Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) challenges Don Draper (Jon Hamm, pictured) about why he thinks he should get the job as head of account services: "I earned this job, I deserve it," he tells Don, in a heated exchange. Don, however, asks him to be patient because he's still not ready.
As Don leaves the office he notices his colleagues standing around quietly. As the lift doors close, the office erupts with laughter and the election party gets under way.
As the night rolls on and the votes get closer, the group gets friskier. Ken (Aaron Staton) pulls Alison to the ground to reveal the colour of her underwear. Everyone laughs, apart from Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) and Marge (Stephanie Courtney), who are not impressed. Peggy then leaves the party.
The next morning, as the office begins to recover from the night before, Pete has some political power play of his own on his mind.
Thanks to Adam's box, he has discovered Don's real identity. He confronts Don with the information, but Don recognises his attempt at blackmail. Don's angry exchange with Pete results in Don being overcome with a graphic flashback to the trenches in Korea.
Will this be the final clue to the riddle of the enigmatic Draper?
