Clare Balding and Adrian Chiles present a full round-up of all the overnight Olympics action and stories, with a look ahead to the rest of the day's competition alongside analysis, features and interviews with the key figures making the headlines.

Overnight, Britain's 14-year-old diving sensation Tom Daley and Athens silver medallist Pete Waterfield were hoping to reach the men's 10m platform final, which takes place later today. The Bird's Nest Stadium will have played host to the men's football final, the finals line-up will have been decided in the men's table tennis and volleyball's women's bronze encounter will have been settled.

Cycling

In the men's mountain bike event, Britain's Liam Killeen (pictured) and Oliver Beckingsale will be among a tough field of cyclists all hoping for Olympic glory. Killeen finished fifth in Athens but defended his Commonwealth Games title in Melbourne two years ago and should figure in the hunt for medals. Beckingsale claimed Commonwealth silver behind Killeen and will be hoping to improve on his 17th-place finish at the last Olympics.

Canoeing

Today is the last day of competition at Shunyi, with Britain's Tim Brabants and Lucy Wainwright hoping to have qualified for the K1 500m finals.

Today's timetable is as follows:

8.30am men's K1 500m final
8.45am men's C1 500m final
9.20am women's K1 500m final
9.35am men's K2 500m final
10.05 am men's C2 500m final
10.20am women's K2 500m final

Taekwondo

There's further action from the final day of the taekwondo competition at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium. British attention is focused on Sarah Stevenson, who is competing in her third Olympics and hoping to go one better than her fourth place in Sydney.

Synchronised swimming

The team free final takes place today. Russia has won gold at the last two Olympics, with Japan in the silver medal position on both occasions. The positions were exactly the same at last year's World Championships in Melbourne.
