Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) receives a call from the mother of Anita Gray, who was a student of olfactory science expert Napoleon LeNez. LeNez was working on using smells to unleash memories, which had helped Anita to remember her dead grandmother through cigarette smoke. Together they created a self-help book, The Smell of Success, but before its release Anita was killed by a mysterious explosion.

Ned (Lee Pace, pictured), Chuck (Anna Friel, pictured) and Emerson go to the morgue to revive Anita's corpse where she reveals that she was sniffing a "scratch-'n'-sniff patch" of unfiltered cigarettes in the new book when the book exploded. Emerson suspects that someone was trying to kill LeNez.

Meanwhile, Olive (Kristin Chenoweth) visits Aunts Lily and Vivian. She tries to shake Lily and Vivian out of their deep depression by conjuring up memories of their career.

The missing episode will shortly be available. See ITV backtracks on Pushing Daisies in our forums.

Each to their own. While I agree that Pushing Daisies is quirky and different, I have continued to find that the series is an utter mess, poorly plotted, over-complex and incredibly icky-yucky, ghastly sicky. The near-constant jokey narration from Jim Dale wore thin during the first episode; now it's just tedious. And as for that hideous woman Olive Snook and her dire attempts at singing... words fail me. About the only person to emerge from the show with anything resembling credibility is Chi McBride as PI Emerson Cod. Thank goodness the end is in sight, although no doubt we'll have to suffer the missing episode at some stage in the future.

I seriously dont get it, you heap praise upon A LOT of utter rubbish shown on TV, yet something quirky and different like Pushing Daisies you dismiss as "over-complex, sickly-sweet, icky-yucky". Yes, of course you're entitled to an opinion, but my opinion is that you're totally wrong! PD is a great show!!! I really hope you dont put anyone off this great show with your horrible review!!
