With amazing inspiration and clever ideas, engineers constantly shape, manipulate and improve the world around us. In this new series Richard Hammond (pictured) looks at engineering goals and achievements and how they were brought about through technological innovation.

In the first episode, he reveals how a 19th-century rocket, a bicycle pump and an ancient Mongol bow all helped in the design of the super-super-jumbo, revealing the engineering connections behind the biggest commercial aeroplane the world has ever seen: the Airbus A380.

This looks like an awesome show. I found the Nat Geo website and watched a clip at www.natgeotv.com/rhec. Cool stuff and unusual linkages.
