Tobey Maguire dons the famous red suit once more as Spider-Man. Following his 2002 hit, director Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead) returned in 2004 to give the web-slinging hero another outing - this time pitting him against tentacled villain Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina). As if that were not enough, poor Spider-Man must also contend with the vengeful attentions of his former best friend, Harry Osborn (James Franco) who is out for blood after the webby one killed his father, the Green Goblin...
Raimi's directorial fingerprints can be seen all over this action-packed sequel, which includes a cameo appearance by long-term collaborator Bruce Campbell. Kirsten Dunst returns as Spidey's girlfriend, and Spider-Man's creator, Stan Lee, features in a cameo role.
Did you know? The film is set two years after the original. Shot on more than 100 sets and locations, the film had a budget of $200 million; about $54 million was spent on digital effects alone. A film camera called the Spydercam was used to allow the film-makers a more realistic view of Spider-Man's world; at times the camera dropped 50 storeys (more than 600ft). Thirty-five Spider-Man costumes were used during the filming.
