Nobody knows exactly what to expect as singer Charlotte Church returns with the latest series of her "cheeky" chat show. That's because the programme is recorded very near to transmisssion and therefore no preview DVDs are available. Nevertheless it's a fair bet that it won't be a million miles removed from the previous series, where she trod a tricky path, loitering somewhere between Jonathan Ross, Graham Norton, The Word and The Girlie Show, with variable results.
Tonight's guests include Catherine Tate and Peep Show's David Mitchell, and there's a new feature, Lady to Ladette, where Church takes five posh ladies for a chav night out in Cardiff. Sounds riveting...
The following preview is courtesy of Channel Four:
Charlotte Church returns for a third series of her award-winning entertainment show, in a new Thursday-night slot. Charlotte hosts her cheeky mix of comedy, music, hidden camera stunts and star guests. Recorded close to transmission, in front of a studio audience, Charlotte is joined by her favourite celebrities, who chat and join in all the studio fun.
Tonight actress and comedienne Catherine Tate and Peep Show's David Mitchell join Charlotte. Also returning is regular hidden camera item CCTV - Charlotte Undercover, as Charlotte once again dons prosthetics and disguises, all for the sake of comedy. Tonight Charlotte takes on her most ambitious challenge to date: attempting to infiltrate the Welsh Guards as they undertake their final rehearsals for the Queen's birthday parade (Trooping the Colour). Can Charlotte, with the help of her military uniform and bearskin, fool the Sergeant Major as the army prepares for one of their most prestigious events, or will her cover be blown?
The new series also introduces a new strand, Lady to Ladette, where Charlotte teaches five properly posh girls the essentials of a rollicking night out in Cardiff, based on the four "D"s: dressing, drinking, dancing and doners. Over three weeks the original five will be whittled down to a final three who will appear in the studio for a no-holds-barred final. Of course there will also be music, as well as plenty of audience participation with hits on some unsuspecting members of the studio audience.
